Newark New Media 2010, the third season of cWOW's artist residency and apprenticeship program at the cutting edge of digital technology and contemporary art, travels to Collect This!, the grand opening exhibition of the 239 Collective Gallery on June 24, 7PM-1AM, 239 Washington Street, Newark, NJ, 07102. JUNE 17 - JULY 31, 2010: cWOW @ PRUDENTIAL CENTER
Newark New Media 2010, the third season of cWOW's artist residency and apprenticeship program at the cutting edge of digital technology and contemporary art, premieres Thursday, June 17, 2010, 4-6 p.m. with a screening and public reception in Prudential Center’s Verizon Tower. The program will air on Prudential Center’s outdoor marquee through July 31, 2010, and can be seen by millions of passing vehicular, rail, and pedestrian commuters and residents. Directions.

Dialectical Landscapes, curated by Alyssa Edmée Fanning, investigates the notion of landscape as ever changing, fluctuating, and shifting. Recession Expression, curated by Carmen Hermo, addresses the stereotypes and stigmas associated with the notion of the "starving artist." "METRO 26," juried by Chris Coover (Christie’s and Antiques Roadshow), Kathleen Gilrain (Smack Mellon) and Priska C. Juschka (Priska C. Juschka Fine Art), has its opening reception on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 6-8pm at City Without Walls. This exhibition is cWOW's twenty-sixth annual juried travelling exhibition featuring small works by artists from the entire metro region. tek’tänik, curated by Evonne M.Davis, is a multi-site show that begins at Seton Hall School of Law and travels to the Arts Guild of New Jersey in Rahway, NJ and Gallery Aferro in Newark, NJ. tek’tänik features large scale works by five artists: Kyle Coniglio, Lisa Elmaleh, Dahlia Elsayed, Stephen Mishol, and K. What if artists were in charge of stimulating the economy as well as our minds? "Ready to Unveil," a collaborative project of City Without Walls (cWOW) and the Sculptors Guild, asks artists to take one city—Newark, NJ—and re-imagine it as an art gallery. Ideas for public art in public spaces have been submitted and juried by leading public artists and art experts. "Real or Otherwise Around" at Seton Hall Law from January 5, 2009 – April 24, 2009, curated by Evonne M. Davis, is inspired by Pablo Picasso’s famous quotation, “everyone wants to understand art, why not try to understand the song of a bird?” and attempts to compile a collection of beautiful and challenging images. This exhibition consists of 20 large scale abstract paintings by artists Sonia Chusit, David French, Karim Marquez and Andrew Werth.
