We maintain our original commitment to bring challenging contemporary art into people’s everyday lives and we look forward to the work that will be submitted for this exhibition. The Metro Show provides an excellent opportunity to join cWOW’s Membership and have your work reviewed by leading art professionals.
METRO 31 JURORS
Larry Ossei-Mensah
Independent Curator, Co-Founder of ARTNOIR
Larry Ossei-Mensah is a Ghanaian-American independent curator and cultural critic who has documented contemporary art happenings for various publications including NeueJournal, Uptown and Whitewall Magazine. His writings have profiled some of the most dynamic visual artists working today—Derrick Adams, Mickalene Thomas, Kehinde Wiley, Lorna Simpson and street artist JR. As a curator, Ossei-Mensah has organized exhibitions at commercial and nonprofit galleries throughout New York City featuring a roster of critically acclaimed emerging and mid-career artists including Firelei Baez, ruby amanze, Hugo McCloud, Brendan Fernandes, and Derek Fordjour to name a few.
Ossei-Mensah is also the Co-Founder of ARTNOIR, a global collective of culturalists who design multimodal experiences aimed to engage this generation’s dynamic and diverse creative class. ARTNOIR serves as a tangible extension of Ossei-Mensah’s curatorial vision of “bridging gaps.” ARTNOIR’s inaugural event was a conversation on art and gender justice featuring Wangechi Mutu, Julie Mehretu and Adrienne Edwards. Recently, Ossei-Mensah has been named the 2017 Critic-in Residence at ART OMI in addition to serving as Co-Chair on Russell Simmons’ RUSH Artist Advisory Board and a member of MoMA’s Friends of Education.

Siddhartha Mitter
Culture Journalist, Contributor, Village Voice
Siddhartha Mitter is a culture journalist and Village Voice contributor. His work focuses on the intersections of music, visual arts, and the culture and politics of cities and communities. He is also a regular contributor to the Boston Globe, and the former culture reporter for WNYC public radio. Siddhartha has published on cultural topics with Chamber Music, The Guardian, MTV, The New Yorker, The Oxford American, Paste, Transition, and other outlets. He also works on political and economic issues, particularly to do with West Africa, for a range of news outlets and political analysis services. Siddhartha is a graduate of Harvard University. He has roots in India, grew up in France, and has extensive work and travel experience in West Africa. He lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Margaret O’Reilly
Executive Director, New Jersey State Museum
Margaret O’Reilly is the Executive Director of the New Jersey State Museum. As a center of cultural, educational, and scientific engagement, the New Jersey State Museum inspires innovation and lifelong learning through collections, research, exhibitions and programs in science, history and art. NJSM engages visitors of all ages and diverse backgrounds in an exploration of New Jersey’s cultural and natural history presented within a global context and serves as a cultivator of tomorrow’s leaders.

REGISTRATION FEE
A non-refundable registration fee and donation of $40 can be made here. Artists who submit to the Metro Show will be given a free one-year membership to City Without Walls and will be eligible for consideration in future exhibitions.
cWOW MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
New cWOW Members will be added to an online registry which curators can use to select artists for future exhibitions. Members will also receive monthly emails about special events, networking opportunities, professional development opportunties, grants and discounts at local businesses. For example, cWOW members will receive 15% off regular priced items at Project + Supply, an art supply store powered by The Gateway Project. Members can also receive free yoga instruction at cWOW beginning March 11th. ($5 donation per class for non-members).
PRESENTATION
Works in any medium are not to exceed 13 inches (13″ x 13″) in any dimension, including frame or base. Wall pieces must be ready to hang, with appropriate wire or hanger.
SALES
Sales will be encouraged. There will be a 30% gallery commission on all sales. Works must be marked with price or marked “Not for Sale”.
LIABILITY AND PERMISSION
Works are exhibited at the artist’s risk, cWOW and its employees will not be liable for loss or damage to any work from any cause. Artist grants cWOW the right to use images of accepted works in promotional materials. Works not picked up 30 days after notification become the property of cWOW.
TRAVELING SHOW
At the close of the exhibition at cWOW, all or part of the show will be selected for a multi-stop, year-long tour of the State and region. Participation in the traveling show is voluntary. Three-dimensional works do not travel due to logistics and presentation availability at venues.
AWARDS
The jurors will select the winners of the three awards to include: The cWOW Excellence Award: $750 and The cWOW Exceptional Merit Award: (2) $100 each
DEADLINE
Entries will be accepted Saturday, January 14, 2017 through Saturday, March 4, 2017. Exhibition Dates: Saturday, April 1 – June 3, 2017.
